Ein Märchenwald als Dokument der Shoah 1942 zwang ein SS-Offizier den polnisch-jüdischen Künstler Bruno Schulz, seine Villa mit Fresken auszuschmücken. Wenig später wurde Schulz auf offener Straße von einem Gestapo-Mann erschossen. Eine Ausstellung in Luxemburg zeigt nun die letzte Arbeit von Schulz, der einen einzigartigen Stil pflegte. Den Schriftsteller, Graphiker und Zeichner stellen heute manche auf eine Stufe mit Kafka. Entdeckt hat die Wandmalereien in Drohobycz (Ukraine) der Dokumentarfilmer Benjamin Geißler. Nun rekonstruierte er dieses Dokument der Shoah in einer begehbaren Bilderkammer. Zuvor musste er einen Streit mit der Gedenkstätte Yad Vashem in Jerusalem um die Fresken beilegen. Die Installation wird in mehreren europäischen Ländern gezeigt. Eine Reportage von Renaud Lavergne.

Matthias Frickel rekonstruiert nicht nur die äußerst fragile Struktur in Schulz’ Werk, sondern holt eine breite Palette von Künstlern vor die Kamera, deren Schaffen von Bruno Schulz inspiriert wurde, u.a. Benjamin Geissler, Bogdan Koca, Jonathan Safran Foer, Nadia Terranova, Ofra Amit, Shir Goldberg, Piotr Tomaszuk, Mariusz Kubielas oder den Frontmann der Rockgruppe Bruno Schulz.
